नमस्ते......

In Sanskrit the word is namah + te = namaste which means “I bow to you” - my greetings, salutations or prostration to you. The word ‘namaha’ can also be literally interpreted as "na ma" (not mine). It has a spiritual significance of negating or reducing one's ego in the presence of another.

It is commonly accompanied by a slight bow made with the hands pressed together, palms touching, in front of the chest called Gassho.

The popularity of the word Namaste can be understood by the fact that there has been a school with the name in Chicago and it is registering increasing number of students too. Similarly there is also a NAMASTE TV, which is a channel in America too.
